Metro        The orange warning light bounced across the vending machines in the deserted station of Bastille, the howling siren falling on dead ears. The air hung heavily over the station, stagnant and warm, condensing on the frosty tiles.          The only sounds were the persistent siren, and the fresh screaming of tortured metal as the 10:05 slammed to a halt, doors flung violently open to the deserted station.          Nothing stirred.
